I want new episodes of Young Justice & how's that zero issue workin out for ya?

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. In this case a thousand different words to describe how absolutely bad ass something can be. The only draw back about finding this is that it makes me want to again wake up Saturday mornings to new YJ episodes more then ever. But until they produce some new episodes there ain't much to look forward to these days when it comes to new stuff from DC. Thank God for those back issue discount bins and the new fan art that pops up from time to time. Did I mention lately I've been finding some DC reboot titles from the first 6 or 7 months after the relaunch? By the way, wouldn't these look pretty sweet on your book shelf at home?

Hot looking Amanda Waller
I tell ya when I see stuff like these hard bound books of the Ostrander series it gets me all sentimental. So on that note how about I close out this posting with some links to online reviews of the Suicide Squad Zero issue? None of which I might add are very flattering. I gotta admit though I thought the art work was pretty solid but there was even one review (the link from bentcorner) that was bashing the issue for that too. Every one's a fucken critic huh Dale?
Just a teaser from an MTV Geek News Q n A style review that is really brief and ends with:
ARE WE BACK FOR ISSUE #13? No, this doesn’t really reveal too much more about Amanda Waller, or make us particularly gung ho for the rest of the series.

Take note folks unless you're just a super die hard collector for some of the new stuff out there you pretty much can read the issues in these reviews and keep up with the stories. As you'll see some of these sites pretty much give you everything from panel to panel you just have to wait a few days or a week after the issues have hit the shelves. It seems some of you could use the extra cash you'd saving. Especially you Aliera, I don't even want to know how much you're paying for new books in Portugal. We all now know Dan pretty much has to drop his trousers and grab his ankles (crickey!) when he gets new books every month. By the way we have this restaurant chain out here called the Outback Steak House. I don't think I can ever go there again after having written this posting.

  1. I think the problem the reviewer from bentcorner had was slightly valid, especially from a book that has it's roots in the military. If you're going to put someone firmly within the military structure, give them a rank, and stick them in a uniform, then they should at least have the right stripes on them. Now, I don't so much have a problem with the hat thing. Lots of the guys (and gals) go lax on that if their superior officers or underlings aren't around to see them. But the stripes and stars...yeah. Military people are kind of anal about those kinds of things. Most others wouldn't really catch it. Otherwise, I thought the artwork was fine. From the description of the story I thought it was weak. And actually, I kind of have a hard time, from the description, wondering how Waller kept from being drummed out or at least demoted after it. Much less being allowed to put together a squad of psychotic superpowered beings. Just my opinion.

    1. well you certainly would know something about the military culture :) your opinion is valid as you can see not too much praise out there for that zero issue. speaking of crappy comics i may be posting about the first $1 bin stinker i've had in a while.

    2. It usually doesn't detract from my appreciation from a comic, to tell the truth. But I can understand, from a nitpicker's point of view, why it would bug. Especially if that nitpicker had been in the military. Like I said, they can get pretty specific. A badly drawn comic bothers me more. And I don't think this one is that horrible. I was more wondering by the last panel..."And how did we get here?" Again, it's the military thing, but most people who have lost the majority of their squad and let a bomb explode through reckless endagerment don't up and get another. But I realize all of my opinions are based on a synopsis. So I can take it with a grain of salt. I'd be tempted to pick up the whole thing just to see if I missed something crucial in there...but I don't know. I feel kind of apathetic to do so.

    3. based on all the previews and reviews not to mention having browsed at a copy at the store i'd say you didn't miss any crucial details. your apathy is exactly what i've been talking about for a while now in regards to this series. you might say the action and Boomerang's appearance in the last issue cause a momentary spike in my interest but this zero issue and Team 7 crap has my interest pretty much flat lined again. like i said before i just don't think this SS reboot is really for people like us from the Ostrander days. it's mostly for a new generation of readers who have little familiarity with the SS from the old DCU. bummer

    4. About the stripes in the uniform, I wouldn't know any better, but, on the end of that story, I was ure she would be demoted or receive any sort of punnishment, and she just goes and creates the squad because she wants to send people who "deserves" to die to the front? And they let her? Well if they didn't there wouldn't be a story, but I would have tought more logic that the squad was part of that punishment and not her project.

  2. Yeah everyone's a critic, but I like Tessa's rants, especially since I feel she has every right to complain since she dared to buy all those issues. And yeah, she's pretty funny as well.

I'm bummed out on the serious lack of YJ as well, especially, since as I've said ad nauseum, there was no season finale that I know of.
Add to the fact that new episodes of GL:Animated begins on the 29th, and I'm like WTF DC?
Maybe next month, but its odd no one's said anything at all about YJ.

    Funny cosplay though photo though;)

Cool photo job with those hardcover editions of SS. They look like they came out of those old Encyclopedia Britannica commercials from back in the day, but makes for a hell of a lot more interesting read. Which DC could so that for a lot of their older material that needs to be reprinted.

  3. Well, The Cartoon Network website says new episodes resume September 29th guys. So we don't have much longer to wait. :) Our house is dying too. Only I have to keep it cool. Be a good example. Otherwise
the whining grows to epic proportions. In surround sound.

    1. No problemo Dale. Happy to help. I'd been meaning to look anyway, to make sure my dvr is set up to record. Heaven help me if it doesn't. I'd never live it down.

Shlomo, I'd look at the bounded collections, but I'm afraid of lack of control. And I've promised myself not to buy anything else. At all. For a while.
      Unless it's a Christmas present.
