Great custom figure and great moments from the old DCU Suicide Squad

I wanted to get a posting out for the first of August but I just couldn't get enough good stuff together in time so better a bit late then never. This custom Atom (Adam Cray) was found at Figure Realm. First appearing in Suicide Squad 44 he unfortunately was killed in issue 62. But while he was in the pages of  The Squad he left us with some great moments such as the clip art below from issue 57. I still love the dialogue in the last panel between The Atom and Ben Turner as Turner takes on The Yakuza's meta human martial artist Cats Eye.

Oh how I miss the old Suicide Squad, I so fucken hate the New DC52.

I'm pretty sure you all can figure out where I found this art. Nemesis was with the Squad from the very beginning on an on again and off again in the original series till almost the very end. A really cool character he and Nick Fury are a good match up seeing as their both ace agents with an insane amount of skill, experience and resourcefulness to the point where they can hold their own or even take down super powered opponents. A Rick Flag and Nick Fury team up would have been great too.

  1. Nemesis is good but he's not on Nick Fury's level of cloak and dagger, the illustration is good though. The Atom is a very nice custom job, the customizer has to be a Squad Fan to even know who Cray is.

The Catseye character was a good addition to SS and BT as a villain. It would have been good if he had been around longer.

    1. it would have been good period if the old DCU had been around longer. by the way did you get my email about that artist not wanting to have her Vixen fan art posted on any blogs?

    2. Nope, didn't get it, glad you said something. You must not have known when you sent me the pic. I hear Nightshade is showing up in SS.

      Check your email.

  2. I really love these guys that make their own action figures. I don't have even the slightest idea how you'd go about it, so it always blows me away.

    1. If you had the choice of any figure as a collectable who would it be?

    2. That's a toss up. There's never really been a decent Aqua Girl action figure. Based on the old Tula Aqua Girl from the Teen Titans comics. At least that I've seen, anyway. I'd also like one of Kole, also from Teen Titans, and Lilith, just to round out the collection. It's hard to pick just one once you start daydreaming isn't it? If I had to pick one out of those, though it would be Tula. Aqualad doesn't look right without her. He's lonely. Ach. But Lilith. She's a linchpin. And it'd be fun to pose her looking skeptically at Raven. Argh. I can't decide. It's a good thing I can't make these. I would never eat.

    3. keep your peepers open for what i post on the ROM blog tomorrow it's gonna be custom figure fan boy's or girl's wet dream. as for my choice, hands down it would be a 3 1/2 inch custom ROM. but good articulation would be a must like something Mego would make.

    4. Both good choices the ROM would be nice in the Marvel 3 3/4 line. Aquagirl (Tula) would be a perfect DCU classic. As for me I want a DCUC Black Manta (YJ version) with the removable helmet (or switch out head). Random the daydreaming has begun.

    5. Those old mego figures were great. I wish they would put out another line like that.

  3. That's a cool, kick-ass custom Cray figure right there. I'm not too sure on the head, but the body's a repainted new ML Ultimate Cap figure. Damn good buck too, and yeah, like Tiger said, only a true old-school fan would even know who Cray was.

Also I wouldn't sell Nemesis too short; sure he's no Nick Fury, but he's almost at that level. I imagine if he had the time, he'd get there eventually.

Outside of maybe a DC Direct Tula, there really hasn't been a rally decent Aqua Girl figure. The DCUC line would've been perfect for her, hell even the sub-line if they weren't so fucked up.
Hell, there still isn't a decent Garth Aqualad figure out yet, and he's supposed to be more popular of the two.

    1. But at least he's got the paint job done correctly. So I can say they tried.

  4. Oh no, I meant don't know who that hear/face belongs to figure-wise. No the paint job, the whole job's fucking amazing!
