Fire, some of the hottest heromorph work I've ever seen

I'm at a loss for words on this one this is one of the best heromorphs I've ever seen. It's by the guy who did the Plastique heromorph I posted last summer.

Funny how when Fire was with Checkmate everybody kept giving her that "you're not in the Justice League or Global Guardians anymore" schtick. I gotta tell ya that dialogue from Vertigo in response to Fire giving him shit about making that guy toss his cookies is great I have to find a way to use that some day in a conversation. Aliera if you're reading this would you be so kind as to translate "Vai se danar" for the rest of us?

  1. Good quote by the Count for sure.
Rucka really seem to use the cast he was allowed to have extremely well, like Fire for example, and how well she was written.

    1. Yes he did do that. Fire had become the agent she alwaays was. Thats why OA1 put her on his Task Force Elite team.

I think if Checkmate had of focused on Wallers team being the mission operatives the book would have lasted. When I say Wallers team I mean the Squad.

    2. thanks for the comment but let me ad a foot note to it. the second Checkmate series ended about 4 or 5 issues after Rucka left the series. i suspect that wasn't a concidence. the book having put more focus on the Suicide Squad would have certainly please Squad fans but it's hard to say how regular readers of Checkmate would have reacted to it. not everyone out there who liked Checkmate was also a Squad fan.

  2. This guy is good, I looked over his work. I got about 100 project request for him :) and Vertigo does have his moments.

@Keth: I feel you man but Shlomo is right everbody isn't Suicide Squad fans. But the series didn't even give us Harvey Bullock, Faraday, 1st Knight or Thorn so it was a restructured Checkmate. But Hell, I want everything to be Squad heavy too man. That's why we clique.

    How about that Django...

    1. correction sir, King Faraday was the White Queen's (Waller) Bishop in the second Checkmate series. that was the case all the way from Checkmate#1 till the last issue of the "Fall of The Wall" story line in #20. reference the Suicide Squad time line link in the right hand column just above the blog role listing.

    2. He didn't do nothing. White Queens Bishop.....so what where was he? Faraday is suppose to be DCs finest. A world class super spy plugged into the book to fill in space. And he wasn't by himself in that regard either. I'm just going to put it out there. Checkmate wasn't nothing.

    3. unlike a knight (Vertigo), a bishop isn't a field agent. as the White Queen's bishop Faraday's job was to basically be her right hand man for administration purposes and liaison for field agents. Checkmate was basically the S.H.E.I.L.D of the DC Universe and an all around clever concept the way it was written. i think you're being a bit to abrupt in your assessment of it.

  3. It would be in a very loose translation: "Go "#$% yourself". Some time I wonder who decides on Bea's Portuguese swearing? Anyway, she is brazilian. If she was Portuguese that wouldn't be a loose translation but a literal one :)
This was a well writen scene, anyway.
Any news on Vertigo on the new DCU?
