I'm sure by now most of you have seen that Batman Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer with that scene of the Superman statue with the "False God" graffiti right? It made me think of this panel from Checkmate 24 (2008) in which Superman teams up with Checkmate in order to take down a Kobra plot. Fuck the new DCU for having some cheap Kobra knock off (Basilisk) instead of the real thing. The New DCU, a false universe.

And how did that story not end with Superman(with all of his powers) not take out Kobra and have him arrested?
ReplyDeleteone word, strategy.
DeleteCobra-la-la-la-la-LA-LA-LA!!!
ReplyDelete...ooops, wrong Cobra.
damn straight wrong Cobra. besides, that was a point where the G.I.Joe franchise got way out of control with over the top shit.
DeleteKobra was such a great foe in the DCU, but I think King nailed why he hasn't resurfaced. Still stinks though.
ReplyDeleteone of the many reasons why i don't buy or follow anything from the new false DCU.
Deletewell it's not like Kobra and Superman went mano e mano. Kobra has a lot of weapons at his disposal such as the art of deception, an army of ISIS like religious fanatic followers and even magic. plus that story arc was written by Greg Rucka so there's that to.
ReplyDeleteI guess man, I just don't see(outside of necessary story-telling purposes) that one wouldn't be wrapped up in 10 seconds, army or no army.
ReplyDeleteNerd nitpick: Some dumbass writer decided the original honorific "naja-naja" was incorrect and changed it to "naga-naga." This was around the time of the Janus Directive crossover that ruined Suicide Squad.
ReplyDeleteFor the record a *naja* is another name for a cobra and a *naga* is a stupid looking monster from D&D. So there.
