Newly created Plastique heromorph makes me feel "explosive"

So this came about in a rather unique way. There's this artist on Deviant Art who specializes in heromorph fan art check it out: http://daswookofheromorph.deviantart.com/gallery/  I started using his stuff a couple of weeks back for my other blog and from that we started to chat a bit at Deviant Art. About  a week ago he asked me if there's anybody he hasn't done yet I'd like to see for which I suggested Plastique. And wouldn't ya know it this showed up in his gallery just a couple of days ago.
Did you know that Plastique only appeared in the first 3 issues (1987) of the entire John Ostrander Suicide Squad series? Aside from some kind of love triangle she was a part of along with Captain Atom and Nightshade I don't know much about what happened with the character since then.

That is until 2006 when she turned up in Checkmate #6 (Vol. 2) in which Amanda Waller as Checkmate's White Queen secretly reactivated the Suicide Squad. As you can see from the clip art it was business as usual with things going wrong even before the mission got under way. Would you want to go on a dangerous gig with this group?

A couple years after that she would turn up in the 8 issue Suicide Squad mini-series "Raise the Flag" (2008). She really kicked ass in that mini check out this posting from early last year: http://suicidesquadtaskforcex.blogspot.com/2010/10/plastique-is-bomb-just-dont-call-her.html Since then Plastique was a regular on the Suicide Squad for almost all their appearances before the old DCU ended.

  1. This is good work. Glad Plastique was the latest. I'm going to check this guys site out. I hope she shows up more, she adds that needed flavor to any book that she cameo.

    2. Really good work. I've been known to work some Photoshop magic from time to time, but a full body costume, fully colored and shaded? That's tough. Just outlining it to mask it out can drive you nuts.

  2. HA! I laughed when I saw the title, and then what it was about this time, Dave. He did a fantastic job. I love that line "It's called the Suicide Squad for a reason". Sometimes you can kind of forget that these people aren't necessarily supposed to come back, or that some of them might not care if they do.

    1. yeah that's from Checkmate #6 (Vol. 2). it cracks me up how ICICLE is like "we are so screwed tomorrow" after having gotten dissed by Javelin and then walking in on Mirror Master doing some blow. both 6 and 7 are really good issues and were the return of the Suicide Squad after what was basically a 14 year hiatus with the exception of the Superboy appearance in 1995 and that horrible short lived Kieth Giffen SS series.

  3. That Plastique photomanip is several shades of awesome! Checked out his site, and he's got some really, really nice manips there too.

As for the last bit, priceless:) And to be dissed by Javelin of all people.....

Ah, Mirror Master doing blow. This is obviously before he was "reformed" by Captain Cold, but nice scene all the same. If I were Icicle, I'm pretty sure I'd feel the same exact way.
