Big WOW Comic Con San Jose CA. 2013

So what you're looking at is my DC Comics haul from the discount boxes. And as you can see I finally was able to find Justice League Task Force 5 and 6 featuring the REAL Bronze Tiger. For just a buck each but it gets even better. The Rise of Arsenal #3 (already have 1,3 and 4) and that KOBRA one shot for just 25 cents each! I haven't read that KOBRA one shot yet but at a glance it's full of action between the KOBRA cult and Checkmate and even has the JLA guest starring in it.

 And what con would be complete with out some cosplay maidens?

Suicide Squad 20: new writer but same circus, same clowns

I was browsing issue #20 at my local comic shop today and if you haven't been happy with this series so far there isn't anything in this issue to make you feel better I'm afraid. I'm really not too clear who the 2 new members are supposed to be and the story pretty much consisted of Waller and her new right hand man The Unknown Soldier brutalizing (yaaawn) and playing more mind games (zzzzzzzz) with the rest of the Squad. Somebody please wake me when it's over.
After more then a year and a half of disappointment I needed this issue to come out with guns blazing in the direction I've been wanting this series to go in. Despite two new characters being added to the roster, still no Bronze Tiger, no Nightshade, no Vertigo, no Rick Flag or even a return of Captain Boomerang into the story line.
It just seems like DC is just Hell bent on selling a Suicide Squad to the readers that looks next to nothing like the Squad of the old DCU. I'd say I was done with the Suicide Squad reboot but that's been the case for almost a year now. Issue 20 just might have been the first stone to pave my way back to actually buying this book again but that didn't turn out to be the case. I recommend you spare yourself more disappointment and save your $3 for a more worth while cause like helping out the Boston Marathon bombing victims: https://secure.onefundboston.org/page/contribute/default

5/9 Update: Ya know I really think at this point DC is just trying to find all sorts of ways to fuck over the Ostrander/McDonnel Squad as much as possible. "Build off the original, still magnificent Suicide Squad"

This weekend we saw another great episode and perhaps the beginning of this series wrapping up. With the alliance between The Reach and The Light falling apart and Aqualad and Artemis playing their final hand with their deep cover assignment I'm getting a sense this are coming to a conclusion. Cmon Omega Agent 1 ya gotta give it up for this one! That being said I can't help but wonder if last week's episode was the last we'll see of Arsenal with his new gang. I should hope not seeing as they just started their partnership at the end of that episode. There's still a few other issues to play out such as Black Beetle's ultimate plan now that he's ditched the Reach's ambassador and Vandal Savage escaping with the War World. Stay tuned folks this show keeps getting better and better with each weekend.

Just wanted to give a hat tip to Dale Bagwell  for passing this along to me. It seems the new creative team will be taking the Suicide Squad back to it's Ostrander roots. Too early to say if this is something worth getting excited for but you can read all about it here.

 I'm just throwing this fan art in as an after thought today. This is quite an interesting Marvel vs DC match up. At a glance I'd be inclined to say that Alpha Flight has The Squad out done in the raw power department but that all really depends on which members of  The Squad make up the team that's going to go up against Alpha Flight. Through out the Squad's history in the old DCU they've had so many members come and go and many of them were some pretty ruthless and cunning killers. But also, The Squad does have Amanda Waller and we all know "don't ever fuck with The Wall".

New creative team for the Suicide Squad announced

Well this certainly comes as welcomed news. Too early to say if this new creative team will take the book into a different direction that more mirrors the John Ostrander era or if it will be more of a "meet the new boss same as the old boss" kinda deal.

 "Just as DC has been giving some indie comics folks like Charles Soule, Ray Fawkes, and Jeff Lemire time in the spotlight within the DC Universe, so too are they about to bring a name from the indies that's been receiving much acclaim as of late: Ales Kot.
Kot is best known for his works at Image -- Wild Children and Change -- but as of May, he'll also be the new writer on Suicide Squad alongside new artist Timothy Green II. The creative team won't be the only thing changing however, as the solicitation coming soon from DC also promises new team members and a totally new direction as Amanda Waller brings on some new recruits."

By the way did any of you check out those art work links in the last posting? There's some really good stuff there done by more talented individuals then myself.

And finally I want to throw in a belated fuck Valentine's Day message. I've never had a Valentine's Day where I wasn't single or in the midst of some fucken drama with someone I was with for which VD just added to the awkwardness. A friends with benefits kinda arrangement is about as close it gets for a "happy Valentines Day" as far as I'm concerned.
