Comic characters you got into from the animated movies & TV shows

Left click to enlarge
Lately I've been really enjoying watching Owlman video clips from Crisis On Two Earths movie. As far as I can tell he's nothing like the rather offish and generally uninteresting Owlman (lame costume too) from what I remember of DC in the 80s. I like his sense of cynicism, his fatalistic attitude while always maintaining a calm  demeanor.
Then you've got Roy Harper from Young Justice and you all know how much I like him. Prior to Young Justice I knew very little about the Roy Harper character. I had only read a couple of early Suicide Squad issues he guest starred along with a Teen Titans one shot anti-drug issue that was given out as freebees at my elementary school back in the day when we still had dinosaurs. My knowledge of Cheshire was even more scant for that matter.
As for the Red Hood I had heard that name here and there with the travesty known as the New DC 52 never payed it any mind. That is until I happened upon some clips of Batman: Under The Red Hood on Youtube. Instantly I felt like I stumbled across a character I really felt like I could relate to. And that's not to say that there have not been other characters from animated films and TV shows that didn't strike a cord with me or that I otherwise really enjoy but the ones I mentioned here I just identify with on a more personable level.

Hey Dale sorry I didn't really get back to you when you first posted this clip art on my face book page. But yes you were correct there is something very very Duchess like about her. Although I think the likeness is almost certainly coincidental, where is this from again? Some kind of Suicide Squad from the new 52 tie-in?
In the mean time let's take a trip down memory lane of one of those moments in awesome as Duchess a.k.a Lashina deliver some impromptu disciplinary measures in the field to Count Vertigo and Captain Boomerang who were attempting to carry out a little mutiny during a mission. Although we find out later she had ulterior motives.

Cartoon Network can kiss my Arsenal! (new fan art)

Left click to enlarge
I've been wanting to sketch some kind of Young Justice Suicide Squad fan art since the December last month but I just couldn't get it together. So with the recent bad news thanks to those asshole executives at cartoon network I finally managed to work on this over the weekend while listening to 80s heavy metal on Youtube for several hours straight. I don't think it's the best things I've ever done but I think it turned out okay.
Also on Youtube I saw some previews of what cartoon network is going to replace GL and YJ with. It's gonna be another lame ass Teen Titans for pre-schoolers series along with a Batman CGI one. Every Batman series since the Paul Dini cartoon has sucked bat balls so I'm sure this new CGI series will probably also suck. But even if it's better then I'm anticipating it won't be nearly as satisfying to watch as YJ.
Not too upstage my own work but yesterday I found some amazing Young Justice fan art on Deviant Art you all need to see: http://browse.deviantart.com/?qh=&section=&global=1&q=Cheshire+Young+Justice#/d51zhvt

Young Justice "True Colors", just the episode I've been waiting for!

Last week's episode (Cornered) was good, but today's episode is more what I've been waiting for. In True Colors we finally get to see Arsenal in action and the introduction of a Martian version of Blue Beetle. The episode had some snappy dialogue and plenty of action as most of the YJ team along with the "Green Beetle" Martian take on the futuristic evil Blue Beetle that's proven so far to being all but invincible since being introduced into the series. And certainly no less important the story line of the eventual showdown between Sportsmaster/Cheshire and Black Manta/Kalderon finally starts moving along and I can't wait to see how that goes. Although just a fairly brief appearance so far we also get to see Deathstroke and it looks like he'll be gunning for Sportsmaster.
If you're not watching this show you're missing out big time it's the only thing from DC these days that's worth following especially since you're not paying $2.99 or $3.99 for it. I'm sure in the next day or two True Colors will start turning up on Youtube. I can't say much for this weekend's DC shorts however. Lance Armstrong . .er I mean Bane looked pretty ridiculous when he was juiced up on his venom. And huh, sorry Dale but Amethyst was way to kiddy friendly for my taste it reminds me of the Teen Titans cartoon.

As you can see he's called Black Manta for a reason.

I'm making an update to this posting in light of a return trip from a new comic shop I discovered not far from where I live. Of all the comic shops in the San Francisco Bay Area (and there's plenty here) I've never come across one that had discount back issues for only 25 cents! And most of it was some pretty good stuff like this issue of Justice League of America #15 (2008) which features some Suicide Squad clip art I've seen on the internet for a couple of years now but could never figure out exactly where it came from. Aside from that it was an all around kick ass issue that featured a big time throw down between The JLA and Lex Luther's Legion of Doom.
