Beware Randomnerds bearing gifts

Well I must say when I received the rather large box of items from Randomnerd I was taken aback. I knew she had something on it's way to me from her weekend at the Chicago Comic Con but I had no idea it would be so lavish a gift. As you can see here there is a Deadshot figure (it was in the package) and a "Hello Kitty" style illustration done on a piece of cardboard of Lashina. I've seen that figure a million times on the internet over the years but now that I've got one I gotta say I'm so impressed with how well sculpted and articulate it is. Dale knows what I'm talking about. I think also this thing will actually serve as a useful tool for those times when I'm having trouble visualizing in my head specific figure composition for future fan art. Those jointed wooden figurines you find at art supply stores never really worked for me. She also included a copy of one of the coolest G.I.Joe comic book issues ever published which was #21 "the silent issue".

This one of my favorite Suicide Squad scenes from issue 33 in which Duchess/Lashina is rounding up Squad members to take with her to Apokolips to run interference as she attempts to regain her position with the Female Furies. Till this day this scene is still not 100% clear to me. Considering that all she really wants is to use Deadshot as canon fodder I'm not sure I understand why him being a little out of his mind would make a big difference to her. But some how it's still a cool scene that really sticks with me. So how would you folks out there interpret this exchange between Duchess and Deadshot? Why wasn't he "ready"?

  1. I have no idea, but I find it cool that in a land filled with insane killers, Deadshot doesn't measure up to Lashina's ideals. And I just love that look on her face as she glances back at him, considering. As if she'd love to see him try. Maybe, perhaps, she'd like to have him there, but doesn't want to see him dead? I'm hesitant to give her that much credit in the emotional attachment department though.
And I'm so very glad you like the loot, Dave. And that you found a use for the Hello Kitty. :)

    1. i know she's Hella evil but i always thought Duchess/Lashina in that tank top totting around a big ass gun was a real turn on. i especially like the panel with her thinking it over. the way her face and hand are drawn are cool plus the color scheme some how ads something to it. every guy should visit Israel at least once in his life time. lots of pretty women everywhere dressed like Duchess with big guns. even on the beaches sometimes.

    2. That's the beauty of it, in a land full of killers Lashina needs flunkies with ulterior motives with no idea of how bad she's going to fuck em. And not in a good way.

A this point and time Deadshot is off his rocker in a Joker kind of way. Therefore he's too big of a wild card to include in her plans.

Lawton suffers from a sociopathic homocidal complex (Shlomo you should know this). Secret Six #15 tells the biggest part of the why's. So Lashina knowing Deadshot is an against the grain kinda guy wants to use him, but doesn't know even if he wasn't having an episode at the time he still would have pissed in her cornflake plan. Why, because Deadshots really an anti hero that is in desperate need of Jesus (or medication).

So to my favorite homicidal hero, I'm pulling for you dude. I just know I always got's to be on my P's and Q's when we hang out.

    3. I'm not completely sure I know what "pissed in her cornflake pan" means, but I'm going to guess it's not good. Never heard that one before, Agent O. You are educational in so many ways.

    5. I think she wanted those that could be either leverage in making people fight(Flow)or those that in front of the danger would fight with all strenght to save themselves (Boomerangue) making the others a force with enough power to distract some obstacles wile she'd fight to get her place at the Female Furies back.
Floyd wanted to die, was a loose canon and wasn't liked by anybody so he didn't fit her needs.

    6. Random, one of our regional guys from Dallas used to say something similar. When he got off the phone with a particularly irate or rude customer, he'd say "wow, who pissed in his Post Toasties this morning?" We use Corn Flakes up here, as I don't think I've seen a box of Post Toasties in my life, and I worked grocery for about 8 years.

You didn't happen to see any 'bots at the show, did you? Anything good?

    1. Oh G.I.Joe 21 is one of the greatest comics of that era. Even the history of how it came to be is classic. Snakeyes and Stormshadow, the brothers that were, are characters and story as big as Supes, Bats and Wonderwoman. 21 is a big issue. Now you have to get your hands on the origin of Snakeyes.

  4. Cool fucking beans on the awesome SWAG man!

Glad you finally got a Deadshot figure as well. Yeah he's pretty damn cool and detailed. So how many SS'ers do you have now? If not too many, you need to hurry up and get on that. Represent your blog man:)

Hell I'll give an additional shout out and thanks to Randomnerd.

@Randomnerd, thanks for hooking my man up. Now him and Floyd can have some very long, involved discussions about the Duchess now:)

As for that scene, well that's what's so great about comics like that; you're free as the reader to give scenes like that your own interpretation.

personally, I feel she have thought Deadshot was a little too eager, and may have had a deathwish, thus making him a potential risk/problem. She might have thought he'd become reckless, and get either him or her team killed before she was able to accomplish what she set out to do.

    Who knows.

Omega's probably got the better explanation on this one. Go Wesley Snipes!:)

    1. Dale, I couldn't go to the con and not get something for Dave. And when I stumbled across the Hello Kitty I was laughing too hard NOT to take it home and mail it. Y'all should have seen the Power Girl version. It would have made your eyes pop.

    2. That was a Cute Lashina Kitty!
I'd never though I'd see those two characters mixed.
      I'm amazed!
