So what's new pussy cat?

Well I just found out that issue 20 of the Suicide Squad which comes out May 8 will be debuting two new members to the Squad. Now I will tell you this, who they bring on board will either start to rebuild my confidence that this might actually be a title worth picking up again or it will further erode my interest in it. Is Ales Kot gonna start giving us some of the original Squad members or is it gonna be more of the same that we got with Glass? I don't think we can assume too much from the Cheetah at Belle Reve preview clip art just yet.
Also, are we ever gonna find out what the Hell King Shark is? Is he an experiment, a mutant or something supernatural? It was never a big issue to me but after 19 issues you think they could have let us in on the big secret there. Let me leave you all for now with another of my favorite moments in the Suicide Squad from the old DC Universe.

  1. I have an inkling it might be Poison Ivy and Bronze Tiger, Shlomo.

Ivys use in the DCU has made her drift from book to boof of late. And Ben Turner has been mentioned in a issue of Batman Incorporated more than once.

    1. i certainly did not know that about Turner, thanks for the heads up on that mate. let me know if you find out about any specific issues where he's mentioned.

  2. The trick is, whoever they put in there, the WRITING of said characters had better be...better. Because if they put in someone we love, like BT, and crap all over it, it'll be that much worse.

    1. This is true. I hope they have a good grasp on who the character is. With this unknown soldier crap and people getting killed and coming back to life, matter of fact this whole new setup that they gave us is so bad that I don't know if they can straiten it out without just starting from scratch.

@Shlomo: Great panel and one of those times where they showed BT with more than human strength. Major Glory here (victory) has super strength, a kick shouldn't have taken him all the way out like that. I hope the new writing crew play up to that.

Another example was how Bronze Tiger kicked all kind of ass on Apocalypse, where a regular guy shouldn't have been able to beat nobody.

    2. well apparently Major Victory's power comes from his suite so that certainly explains how BT was able to take him out that way. but what it doesn't explain is how he was able to take a punch to the face from Duchess/Lashina with his entire head getting pulverized. but yes i do know how BT has managed to take down or at least hurt super powered beings before. it's certinaly one of the things that makes him bad ass.

  3. Hopefully this would be cool if it was Bronze Tiger and Poison Ivy - all DC books need a Bat connection don't they? And she's wicked, in more ways than one!

My best Suicide Squad moment of DC52 was in Aquaman, when Waller tried to recruit Black Manta. In just two pages we not only had great characterisation of Wall and Manta, but we got to see how DC's villains view the Squad and Waller's efforts at this stage in the game. I never thought Geoff Johns was dark enough to write Suicide, but after that scene, I'm now hoping for more at some point!

    1. I am too Dan. Geoff doesn't do everything I want :) and sometimes pisses me off, but he's consistently good.

Poison Ivy would be great. That new green leaf outfit is so sexy. Man, I would be one distracted super hero dude.

    2. thanks for the comments guys i'm also down with that cool scene with Black Manta in Aquaman. i included it in a posting a while back. it really doesn't pay to be a smart ass prison guard at Belle Reve: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/JoshWildingNewsAndReviews/news/?a=70357

  4. I'm here again, hoping for the old school characters.
I haven't been able to pic this last issues at all, I feel so disconected from them.
But I'll be waiting for you review.
About Geoff Johns, he never disapointed me. I mean, he brought Digger from death, right?
    That man can write.
I was liking Flash a lot, on the final breaths of the old DCU.
So. Here I stay looking for better stories.
